New Era: U of M Hoops

For most Michigan fans, when Darius Morris decided to test NBA waters, their hearts dropped, including mine.  The future couldn't look any brighter in Ann Arbor with a nucleus of Darius Morris, Jordan Morgan, and the sweet shooting swing man, Tim Hardaway Jr.  If Morris decides to return, many experts have Michigan possibly in the pre-season top 25.

Michigan is only team in the Big 10 that is returning every single player, plus 3 recruits that will make a big splash on this team.  Trey Burke, a point guard from Ohio State country, in the heart of Columbus, is expected to make a big impact backing up Morris at the point guard position, if he returns.  Either way, Burke will make a big impact in the backcourt for the Wolverines in 2012.
In many recruiters eyes, Southfield's Carlton Brundidge is the highest recruit coming in the 2011 class.  A 6'1 200 pound power guard is aggressive scorer and played for the AAU team The Family this offseason and drastically improved his game with future Ohio State Buckeye, Amir Williams.  When you think your class is complete, in basketball it's unpredictable.  They added a much needed post player in Max Bielfeldt from Peoria, IL.  The one thing the 6'8 big man has and is much appreciated is his back to the basket game.

As of right now, Morris is projected as a late first round to early second round pick.  If he's not a guaranteed first rounder, I think it's stupid and naive for him to leave and especially with talks of a potential lock out on the horizon.  If he returns, John Beilein can drastically improve his perimeter game, which is his weakness.  After a solid junior campaign, Darius can maybe slide into the mid first round of the draft.  The future is very bright in Ann Arbor, but if Darius Morris returns, it's over for the Big 10.
